Our practice nurses are available by appointment Monday to Friday. They are responsible for promoting and maintaining good health. They can advise on travel and child immunisations, diet, smoking cessation, alcohol control and carry out general health checks and smears. They see patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes and well woman checks (for patients on contraception), HRT, general health checks, smears and IUD checks. They also monitor hypertension (high blood pressure) and lipids (cholesterol).

Healthcare Assistants

Our health care assistants are trained to carry out new patient health checks, over 75 health checks and also free health and cholesterol checks. They assist GPs in their minor surgery clinics and perform basic checks to assist the practice nurses. They also monitor patients who have been diagnosed and are on treatment for hypertension and give advice on smoking cessation. They are not, however, fully trained nurses and therefore cannot give clinical advice.
