Non-urgent advice: Why Attendance Matters
When we are closed
Out of hours and NHS 111
You can visit the Urgent Care Centre at Trafford General Hospital daily from 8:00am – 8:00pm. To book an appointment, call 111.
111 is the NHS non-emergency number. It’s fast, easy and free. Call 111 and speak to a highly trained adviser, supported by healthcare professionals. They will ask you a series of questions to assess your symptoms and immediately direct you to the best medical care for you.
NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.
In case of a life-threatening emergency, please dial 999.
Community Pharmacies
Pharmacists can offer advice and treatment for minor illnesses like coughs, colds, sore throats, stomach issues, and aches and pains. If your symptoms suggest something more serious, they can guide you to the right healthcare professional.
Pharmacists are highly trained in medicine use, illness management, and health advice. Many pharmacies are open late and on weekends, and no appointment is needed. Most have a private consultation room for confidential discussions.
Extended Access Service
Our GP Surgery works in partnership with other local GP Surgeries to provide extra appointments in the evenings and weekends. This helps to make more appointments available for our patients if we are fully booked. It also helps provide flexibility for patients who may need to arrange an appointment in the evening or at weekends if we are not open.
If you have trouble getting a GP appointment during regular hours, you can book one in the evening or on weekends at Flixton Road Medical Centre, Urmston. Appointments are available for the following times:
- Weekdays: 6:30pm – 8:00pm
- Weekends: 9:00am – 1:00pm
Appointments with a GP or nurse, including for blood tests (phlebotomy), are available.
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Home visits
If you are housebound and do not leave your home for any reason and need an appointment, we visit you at home if you are unwell. We will phone you first to understand what you need.
To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the practice as soon before 11.00am where possible.
