Urine samples

If you feel that you have a urine infection it may be possible to obtain antibiotics from any local pharmacy, without the need to speak to a GP, if you are aged between 16-64. You do not need an appointment, just attend your nearest pharmacy for further information. If you do not meet the criteria for a pharmacy consultation, we advise patients to contact the surgery at 8.00am Monday to Friday and ask to speak to a GP. The reception team will book an on the day telephone appointment if we have availability and the GP will call to discuss your symptoms. If appropriate, the GP will send antibiotics to your nominated pharmacy. You do not need to bring a urine sample to the surgery unless you are instructed to do so by a clinician. If this is the case, please bring your sample in the correct pot, dated and timed before 11.30am. There may also be a form for you to complete when you bring down your sample, so please bring your readers! You will be advised in advance if you need to bring a urine sample to a routine annual check up.
